CLOTHES SHOW LIVE HIGHLIGHTS PLIGHT OF DISABLED CHILDREN

Fashion students at the University of Wolverhampton School of Art & Design has teamed up with the UK’s leading children’s disability charity, Newlife Foundation, to design a collection of clothing for this year’s ‘College Catwalk’ at the Clothes Show Live.

Alongside 500 leading fashion and beauty brands Wolverhampton University’s fashion students are designing a collection of ‘up-cycled’ garment originating from Newlife’s donated clothing from the Newlife Superstore.

The clothing will take the theme of ‘tribal elegance taking inspiration from traditional samurai armour using soft fabrics with pleating and embellishments. To take a look, the Blue Zone which will be playing host to the College Forum where visitors will be able to visit the University of Wolverhampton stand to view the upcoming designer’s creations while being able to gather information on Newlife and pick up advice about careers in fashion.

In addition to the spectacular catwalk collection, the garments will also feature in a short film that will be running at the stand which has been created by BA (Hons) Video and Film Production students. Course tutor Anne Chaisty said: “We are really excited about our collection this year, in particular our collaboration with Newlife. We have also had sponsorship from Fenlands Sheepskin and leather from Pittards Plc plus great support from local manufacturers. I think this will be our best show ever!”

The Clothes Show Live will be returning to the NEC from 5 to 10 December. Visitors will be able to shop at their favourite high street outlets; as well as getting a first glimpse at the collections from boutique brands; before taking in the explosive catwalk shows on the College Catwalks and at the Fashion Theatre, which offers unrivalled fashion, dance performances and special guest appearances from well-known style icons and famous faces.
