Job Title: National Community Fundraising Assistant
Reporting to: National Community Fundraising Manager
Location: Cannock
Salary: circa £18K
Contract: Permanent position with probationary period of three months

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of the National Appeal Team, the Community Fundraising Assistant support the
creation and delivery of new and existing community fundraising initiatives and contacts across
the UK. Alongside the Community Fundraising Manager you will work closely with the
Corporate Relationships Manager to develop and deliver a plan to capitalise on Newlife’s
unique relationships in the retail sector, targeting the staff of major retailers and encouraging
them to fundraise in aid of Newlife.
• Manage, motivate, and support existing supporter groups and individuals in their events
and fundraising activities
• Support the recruitment of new supporter groups and individuals (Friends of Newlife)
through a series of regional fundraising events and media launches
• Provide appropriate personal and communications support to Friends of Newlife in order
to generate funds
• Develop a robust mechanism to recruit
and maintain a ‘Friends of Newlife’ action group in every county of the UK.
• Work directly with the employees of selected companies in line with the Corporate
Partnerships strategy and under the direction of the Corporate Partnership Manager.
• Prepare and submit applications to regional trusts under the direction of the Trusts
Manager and in line with the overall Trusts strategy
• Ensure the smooth internal co-ordination of community events, advising your manager
and other Newlife staff of upcoming events and activities in order to effectively utilise
Newlife staff and financial resources.
• Maintain a robust event calendar providing a pipeline of community raised income from
across the UK.
• Work closely with the PR manager to ensure that Newlife achieves profile and income
from Media activities and launches
• Provide regular ‘call to action’ communications for each county across the UK and
maintain highly personalised communications for our volunteer fundraisers and Friends
of Newlife across the UK.
• Manage Newlife’s ‘running events’ portfolio ensuring that volunteers are managed and
supported appropriately.
• Ensure all contacts are managed through the Raisers Edge Database and use this data
proactively
• Monitor income and expenditure targets and provide regular progress reports and
updates against targets
• Under direction of the Community Fundraising Manager, develop the ‘Friends of Newlife’
scheme of supporters nationally
• To undertake other duties as appropriate

Person Specification
Essential experience / skills
• 3 years fundraising experience with excellent track record in community fundraising and
/ or event management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An ability to work effectively at all levels internally and externally
• 3 years project management experience with good organisational skills, including the
ability to prioritise and manage own time even under pressure
• Excellent team working and problem solving skills
• Ability to implement and monitor progress against a plan
• Experience of managing a diverse volunteer base
• Ability to travel extensively in the UK
• Full current UK driving licence

Desirable experience / skills
• Knowledge of fundraising software packages
• Experience of / exposure to corporate fundraising
• Experience of / exposure to Trust Fundraising
• Good media and public relations skills
• Experience of making presentations to large groups and diverse audiences
