NEW YEAR CLEAR OUT FOR NEWLIFE
January 2010
Leading children’s disability charity Newlife is appealing to local people to make a new start for the New Year by donating their unwanted gifts.
Newlife, based in Cannock, is asking local people, staff working at businesses and members of clubs to donate their unused gifts and books, CDs, DVDs, computer games or ornaments to raise funds for disabled children.
Last year Newlife helped 113 children in Staffordshire and the West Midlands and spent £168,191.66 on specialist beds, wheelchairs and other essential equipment for disabled children.
But there are 15 local children urgently waiting for help, and £24,271.89 is urgently needed to help them.
Newlife CEO Mrs Sheila Brown OBE says: “It's the time of year to have a clear out of cupboards and draws, make space for the New Year and sort out those unwanted xmas presents. Now your unwanted goods can bring new hope to local disabled children. People can drop unwanted gifts to the donation station at the Newlife superstore, but I am also asking local clubs, companies, pubs and clubs, workplaces, schools and colleges to set up large collecting boxes with our special label to create 'donation stations' for these goods and we will be happy to collect these at the end of the month.”
For a special Newlife donation station label for your box, please call Julie Richardson on 01543 468 888 Ext:269 or email jrichardson@newlifecharity.co.uk.
