Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, with the support of Cannock Chase MP Amanda Milling, has been successful in securing a week long exhibition at the House of Commons from July 11 - 15.

Newlife, the UK's leading disabled children's charity will be highlighting the crucial issue of equipment provision for disabled and terminally ill children in the UK. Last year the charity reported that there is close to one million disabled children in the UK and that one in three disabled children struggle to get the essential equipment they need - equipment that could really change their lives.

At the exhibition MPs will be able to see a range of equipment that has had a positive impact on families of disabled and terminally ill children. This could be a specialist bed that has kept a child safe at night, a walker that has given a child the independence they crave or a communication aid so a son can tell his mum and dad ‘I love you' for the first time. MPs will also be able to see first-hand the barriers families currently face when trying to get this essential equipment.

Newlife Foundation CEO, Sheila Brown OBE said: "We are delighted to have been given this opportunity to show MP's some of the amazing and innovative pieces of equipment that are available today. The right piece of equipment provided at the right time can really change lives and we hope this exhibition will show MPs that together we can make life better for thousands of disabled and terminally ill children and their families."

Amanda Milling MP for Cannock Chase said: "I am very pleased to be able to host Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children in Parliament. The exhibition offers them a great platform to show MPs what they have to offer disabled children in their own constituencies. I will be pulling out all the stops in Parliament to make sure as many MPs as possible come and speak to Newlife during the exhibition, it's vital we all support their hard work."

For 25 years Newlife has been changing the lives and experiences of disabled children. They are the largest provider of essential paediatric equipment to meet the specialist needs of children with disabilities and terminal illness, support their families, work to improve child health and change policies that affect children and families across the UK.

Since it began, Newlife has helped over 12,000 children by granting or loaning the specialist equipment they need often which they have been unable to obtain from their local statutory services - proving that there is a very real issue that needs to be addressed.
