Darcie’s story
This Christmas, five-year-old Darcie will be able to spend time with her family outside of her home – she’ll get to enjoy all of their family festive outings, thanks to a specialist wheelchair from Newlife.
Darcie, who has Leukaemia, became too weak to walk and without a wheelchair the family couldn’t even go outside. Newlife arranged an equipment loan in time for Christmas, so they could attend the pantomime and continue their festive celebrations.
Soon after, Newlife provided Darcie with her own specialist wheelchair so she could continue to enjoy outings with her family. This Christmas, help us ensure more children like Darcie have the equipment they need to unlock a brighter future.
“Darcie was excited but nervous about going to the pantomime because she hadn’t attended a big public event since losing her hair. She felt vulnerable, but the wheelchair became her safe place, where she could just be and think ‘I can do this’!
“This year we’ll still be able to go to the pantomime, but we’ll be able to do even more things too. Darcie is still in treatment but having the wheelchair means we can plan lots of different things to remind Darcie and her brother Louie that Christmas is fun!”
