Give the Gift of Time this Festive Season
We need to increase our community of volunteers to help us through our busy festive retail period. This will enable us to continue to raise the vital funds that help to change the lives of disabled children through expert support, equipment and opportunities to play.
Can you give the gift of time over the festive period and volunteer? We have two role types available this year, find out more below:
1. Volunteer in a Newlife store
Become a Retail Store Volunteer and you’ll join our friendly community of staff and volunteers. We’re always searching for volunteers to help in our nine UK stores. You can find shifts that suit you.

- Where? Cannock, Burton, Market Drayton, Newport (Wales), Moreton, High Wycombe, Yardley
- How often? Flexible, to be discussed
- Age? Volunteers must be 16 and over (parental consent is required for volunteers aged 16 and 17)
About the role:
Retail Support Volunteers get involved in a range of tasks including supporting customers, sorting stock and working on the shop floor.
If you’re looking for retail experience, enjoy working in a busy environment and are a great team player, this is the opportunity for you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing excellent customer service and dealing with any customer queries
- Setting up displays in store to showcase products
- Sorting through new products and displaying stock on the shop floor
- Helping to maintain the standards of the store, keeping it clean, tidy and organised
- Highlighting the importance of the work we do and raising awareness
- Helping with in-store fundraising activities
2. Process stock in our Volunteer Centre
Stock Processors get a first look at the latest products for our stores, sorting them so they’re ready to be sold.
You’ll work independently and as part of a team, working in a fast-paced, fun environment.
- Where? Dedicated Volunteer Centre, Cannock
- How often? The centre is open 9:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Flexible hours can be discussed.

What you’ll be doing:
- De-labelling items, adding Newlife tags and pricing
- Hanging clothes and quality checking stock to ensure it is ready for sale.
- Preparing stock for transit in cages and crates.
- Supporting other volunteers within the team. Interacting with other volunteers and staff members.
