Newlife has lots of preloved sensory toys that are no longer part of the new Play Pods service, but they still have plenty of life left in them.
To help spread the joy of play, we are donating these toys to settings that support disabled children.
Not only does this extend their life cycle, but the deep cleaned and refurbished toys can provide fun, relaxation and distraction. So, when Birmingham Children’s Hospital asked for sensory toys for its Surgical Day Care ward, we were happy to help.
Six Play Pods filled with more than 70 sensory toys were delivered to the busy ward.

To date, Newlife has granted 1,754 sensory toys to 68 settings, reaching 9,459 children. This work has also helped us build relationships with new partners.
We can’t wait to go through all the toys donated from Newlife. The quality of them is amazing and they will go a long way to distracting patients from surgical procedures and treatments.
The toys will be particularly useful for children with learning difficulties or sensory issues.
It will make waiting just so much easier if they are distracted from being anxious or scared.

Newlife’s recently launched new-look Play Pods service gives families the option of two different Play Pods that can be loaned for eight weeks. These are Early Explorers which is suitable for children one year plus, and the Sensory Adventure Pod, which is suitable for children aged three plus.
The toys have been selected by our Play team and specialist toy developers and each contains age-appropriate specialist sensory toys to help children play, learn and communicate.
